Background Information

Road  novels is a genre not easy to describe or defined, because of the different elements to have in consideration. Road novels is a genre originated in America in the 20th century, essentially after the autobiographical Kerouac’s “On the Road “ . This work feeds off the imagination of the beat generation (movement of young people in the 1950s who rejected conventional society) and the subsequent generations, that drove across America in search of meaning, self-discovery, fun and adventure. In an attempt to create a template for a road novel, we can affirm that the presence of cars, roads, description of landscapes and roads, acutely recorded trials of traveling around combined with the absolute sense of adventure are the perfect definition of road novels.  All this elements will be present mainly in the titles selected for this blog.  More
